writes: “Great for
Donna and me to see so many
at ‘Charlie’s reunion.’ Walking
around the pond and Science
Center and making dumb jokes
with
Dierk
and
Bill
was a high-
light. Times don’t change. Also
getting to know John Henry’s
daughter, Spencer. A few weeks
later, John Henry, Constanza,
and Spencer visited us at our
summer place in Nova Scotia to
watch the Fundy tide go up and
down, canoe on the bay, and
sample Nova Scotia seafood and
wine, single malts, and cheese.
Not everyone participated in all
activities. Plus, attended a re-
union in Liverpool, N.S., the
town where I grew up. The
Bowater paper mill where my
father was woodlands manager
had just closed, so that event
was bittersweet. Got in a lot of
short bike rides, kayaks, and
swims this summer.”
John Henry adds: “We had a
wonderful time and theHolts are
truly gracious hosts. David is
editor-in-chief (and a partner)
of
Optimyz
and
Soar
magazines,
both published in Halifax. When
we arrived for our visit, he
‘plopped us into’ a magazine
article that was happening
around us: a tour of Nova Scotia
wineries and country.”

“My husband and I moved back
to Minnesota in July after 10
years in Florida, all Mayo Clinic-
related with Michael taking ad-
vantage of some terrific oppor-
tunities in each location. I am
delighting in seasonal changes,
cooler weather, reuniting with
old friends, and a new pallet of
photographic subject matter,
both inMinnesota and Colorado,
where two of our daughters live.
I also work for 3 Fathoms, Inc.,
), a
501(c)3 devoted to shark re-
search andmarine conservation.
It was started and is run by our
other daughter in South Africa
and Mozambique and me on the
financial side in the United
States. I am so glad I got talked
into going to our 40th reunion
– totally worth it and such fun
to see what sterling citizens we
have all become.”
John Henry continues: “Come
on Sally, how about the 41st?
Speaking of which, there is a
rumor that Dr.
Graeme Boone
will join us in Millville for a 41st
Anniversary if we can come up
with at least ten reunionites. The
Form of 1973 has graciously of-
fered to allow us to ‘embed’ in
their reunion if we are inter-
ested. May I please have a couple
of volunteers for a Form of 1972
41st Reunion Committee?
“In July, yours truly also had
the good fortune to visit with
Jeffrey Keith
and his family,
wife Sara and sons Owen and
Charlie, at their summer home
at Quissett Harbor, near Woods
Hole, Mass. Jeffrey took me out
for a sail in the
Coyote
, a very
fast Herreshoff S Boat, ap-
proximately 28 feet overall,
originally built in the 1920s and
lovingly restored by Jeffrey, who
continues to be a successful
artist in Denver. Landlubber
activities during that visit in-
cluded rousing rounds of the
board game The Settlers of
Catan, which was new for me,
and brought back vivid memo-
ries of those days at SPS when
we had highly competitive play
over lengthy sessions of board
games like Risk and Diplomacy.
The competitive fervor caused
Jeffrey to challenge me to a
sailboat race, which I accepted.
The logistical problem remain-
ing is that he will sail the
Coyote
,
which is a traditional ‘soft water
boat,’ while I will be sailing the
Cold Front
, which is my Nite-
class Ice Boat. Any formmates
(or other SPS alums) with an
engineering background who
can develop a suitable race-
course of open water next to a
twelve-inch-thick ice sheet
should contact us as soon as
possible (by the way, anyone
wanting to try ice sailing this
winter, just give me a call!).
“In the ‘heard around the
quadrangle’ department, (AKA
the rumor mill, which by neces-
sity makes up for insufficient
submissions from our form,
ahem), we note the recent an-
nouncement that a new and
improved ‘Lehman Brothers’
will emerge from bankruptcy,
headed by our own
Julia Alex-
ander
and
Sally Carroll Keat-
ing
. The new firmwill be known
henceforth as Lehman Sisters
(an improvement already) and
specialize in private school tu-
ition arbitrage.
“Our ice hockey powerhouse
Eric Carlson
has volunteered to
trade in his hockey skates for
Teflon-soled shoes to bring the
exciting sport of curling to St.
Paul’s! Another hockey player,
Bob Shepley
, has become tri-
coastal, or at least tri-lateral,
splitting his time between Win-
ston-Salem, N.C., Blue Hill,
Maine, and Alford, Mass., in the
Berkshires, whichmakes himthe
geographically closest formmate
to us, at least for part of the year.
With the winter season soon to
fall upon St. Paul’s, Shep has
been nominated to head this
year’s Saint Bernard Search and
Rescue training here at LowHills
Farms. (For any who have had
the good fortune of meeting
RemyMartin, our Saint Bernard,
youknowitis‘allaboutthecask’)!”
