The Tuttle Legacy
– Wallace Tuttle
graduated cum laude from St. Paul’s
in 1925, attended Yale, and returned
home to Missouri to begin a lifelong
career with Southwestern Bell Tele-
phone. Just after war broke out in
1941, he joined the U.S. Army, serv-
ing through war’s end and seeing
action with the 63rd Infantry Divi-
sion in the Rhineland and Central
Europe campaigns.
Before shipping out to Europe after
D-Day, he married Lois Bader, then
returned to her in Missouri to
spend many happy years together
until his death in 1991. When Lois
passed away 20 years later, one
of the provisions of her trust was
to make a gift to St. Paul’s School
to honor her late husband. The
School established the Tuttle
Fund in memory of both Wallace
and Lois, the income from which
creates a perpetual legacy to
support the students and fac-
ulty of St. Paul’s.
