visits up to Concord, but not
the long drives. This summer
MatthewBaird ’83
and I hosted
a St. Paul’s get-together in
Maine. The event was such
great fun, with a range of SPS-
ers and guests – kids who were
applying, kids who were going
for the first time in September
or who were current, and alum-
ni both recently graduated and
from every decade going quite
far back. I am living in rural
Oldwick, N.J., with my husband,
John, and our younger two
children, Harald (16) and Sophie
(12). I am painting (mostly plein
air and in the studio), parenting,
driving, and staying involved at
St. Paul’s, Penn, my children’s
schools/our community, and
museums in Philadelphia from
my Philly days.”
Greg Selch
writes: “Remar-
ried since last July to Nathalie
from Cholet, France. Living on
Leroy Street in Greenwich Vil-
lage. Adelaide, 8, and Beatrice, 6,
spend half their time with us,
attending PS321 in Park Slope,
third and first grades, respec-
tively. Selch & Co. still making
furniture, but economy slowing
everything down. I was just at
Oberlin College for the opening
of the Selch Collection and the
inauguration of the Selch Pro-
fessorship.My father’s collection
of instruments, books, and arti-
facts are now available for re-
searchers and students to study
American musical history.”

Charlie Shaffer
’s June note:
“Enjoyed the third installment of
‘Battlefields and Ballgames’ tour
with a great group of ’85ers. This
trip took our intrepid group of
Civil War historians to a UVA vs.
Duke lacrosse game and then on
a two-day tour of the Battle of
Fredericksburg and the Chan-
cellorsville Campaign (prior
tours included Shiloh/Ole Miss
football and Fort Sanders/Tenn.
vs. ’Bama football game). As
we studied the genius of Gen-
eral Lee and Stonewall Jackson,
we also saw a great lacrosse
game, played guitar, and sang off
key (but with great alacrity), and
laughed like it was 1985. Great
trip and testament to the endur-
ing power of the friendships
forged at SPS. As for the Shaffer
family, after 20 years in NYC,
Karen
and I finally decided to
move to the Conn. burbs this
summer with our 11-year-old
son, Charles, and 9-year-old
twins, Ada and Andrew. Sad to
leave NYC but looking forward
to a littlemore space – and some
quality reading time on the com-
muter train for me (not really).”

Priscilla J. Forney
Aleen Keshishian
and
Amy
Sullivan
met up inParis for aday
with their daughters. Sullivan is
living in France for the year and
Keshishianwas there visiting her
client, Natalie Portman. It was so
much fun to see the next genera-
tion with their moms, who were
best friends at SPS!
A July update from
Harold
Bost
: “What a start to 2012. The
bank I worked for, RBC Bank,
was purchased by PNC in
March. I startedmy involuntary
separation, which I quickly
dubbed FUN’employment at
that time. Since then, the Bost
family took a cruise to the Ba-
hamas, spent a week in Florida
at the beach and at Universal
and Disney, and another week
at the beach in N.C. I also en-
joyed many rounds of golf, plus
every track meet, softball game,
tennis match, dance recital,
soccer game, football practice,
and other school performance
of the kids. Note to those who
find themselves at an employ-
ment crossroads: take advan-
tage and enjoy the family time!
Open invitation to any SPS folks
in the area.”
From
Eliot Hoyt
: “All is well
here in Denver. Kids are moving
up through the ranks in school
and teams. Business is heating
up – Denver seems to be on the
front end of the recovery in
several sectors. Fun sporting
events this summer – the Pro-
Cycle Challenge had its second
year, bringing the best racers in
the world to Colorado for a week
or so, and I got THIS close to
meeting Olympic swimmer
Missy Franklin in person –
wearing her goldmedals and all.
Our family spent a week in
Washington, D.C., this spring
and had the pleasure of an eve-
ning with
JohnWesson
and his
lovely brood – before they got
whacked by the massive storm.
Otherwise, no SPS alumni
sightings. Do let me know if
formmates are passing through
this neck of the woods.”
From
Laura Bartsch
: “I re-
cently started a global manage-
ment M.B.A. program through
Thunderbird School of Global
Management in Glendale, Ariz.
The program is predominantly
distance-learning, so I will be
continuing to juggle work (and
home and family) throughout
the 28 months with anticipated
graduation in December 2014.”
